Chapter 6

Asher

I’m impatient as hell waiting for Nora to come back from the bathroom. The whole dinner was spent laughing and flirting. It was amazing how easy it is being in her company. Every time she smiles, it’s like the sun is shining on me. Her happy, effervescent personality is starting to rub off and I find myself offering genuine smiles instead of the practiced ones I use with most people.

She makes me incredibly happy, but also incredibly aroused. After our make out session in the street, I could barely control myself. The entire dinner has been an exercise in self-control. Making sure I didn’t drag her across the table and into my lap. Making sure I didn’t spear my hand through her hair, tilt her head back, and ravage her mouth. Making sure I didn’t slide my fingers under her dress until I found her moist heat. Making sure I didn’t make her come multiple times in my arms.

Because I’m saving all of that for later.

I’m distracted from my thoughts by Nora’s chair sliding out. I look up and instead of seeing my woman across from me, it’s some other woman.

She looks familiar. I search my mind, trying to remember her name… something with an L. Lori, Lisa… Lana. Yes, I’m pretty sure her name is Lana.

Lana, objectively, is gorgeous. Favoring her Scandanavian heritage, she’s tall and lithe with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She’s an internationally-recognized model, which means we’ve run into each other at the occasional party. She’s tried to get her way with me a few times, but there was something about her that just didn’t grab my attention.

She didn’t radiate sunshine. Not like Nora.

“Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in. Looking delicious as ever, Asher.” She purrs. Lana’s dressed to kill, but instead of fantasizing about me, her and a bedroom, all I think about is how I need Nora to come back now.

“Lovely as always, Lana, but you need to leave. My girlfriend will be back soon.” Though we haven’t had any sort of talk about a relationship, it sounds right calling Nora my girlfriend.

She raises her eyebrow and laughs. “You, Asher Ramsey, have a girlfriend? Did I hear that right?”

I look towards the direction of the bathroom. Nora will be back any second and as soon as she is, we’re heading back to the hotel. I have plans for that woman. First, I need to get rid of this one. I stand up and round the table. “You need to leave, Lana.”

She stands on her on time, slowly unfolding her body from the chair. She slides her body across mineas she leaves her seat, making sure her breasts rub against my chest. She walks her fingers up my suit jacket. “See, I think you want me here.”

Before I can respond, she curls her claw around the back of my neck and yanks me down until my lips are forced on hers.

I’m stunned by her brazen actions. Frozen in shock.

At exactly the wrong time.
